    More info

Pain can be caused by a variety of situations such as accidents, musculoskeletal disorders, improper lifting, bending, sports activities, and misalignment of the vertebrae of the spine, disease and insufficient blood flow. Conventionally, chronic painful inflammatory conditions are treated with systemic NSAIDs, which have substantial risk of adverse events, on gastro intestinal, renal and cardiovascular systems. Various clinical reviews have proved that topical analgesics are useful in treating certain chronic and painful inflammatory conditions and offer short and long term safety. Dr Kohli’s Muscle and Joint Pain Oil contains more than a dozen herbal ingredients from west and east to cover wider spectrum of topical pain relief. Combinations of herbs are carefully selected considering its efficacy and safety. Sesame seed oil is chosen as carrier oil which has been used from thousands of years in topical Ayurvedic preparations.

    Direction of Usage:
Adults and Children over 12: Massage into affected area until completely absorbed, 4 times daily for minimum of 1-4 weeks.

    Ingredients:
Cayenne Pepper (Capsicum annuum) Capsaicin in Cayenne Pepper is well known to relieve pain when rubbed onto muscle and arthritic joints according to the results of a double blind study. It does this by depleting the nerves of a pain-mediating neurotransmitter known as substance P.

Black Pepper (Piper nigrum) is a useful combination in this preparation. The therapeutic properties of black pepper oil include analgesic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, antitoxic and rubefacient. The powerful warming properties of black pepper make it extremely beneficial to all kinds of aches, pains, muscle and joint stiffness and even temporary paralysis, as it stimulates the circulation and dilates the blood vessels.

Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is one of the ingredients in our preparation. The use of Ashwagandha in Ayurvedic medicine extends back over 3000 to 4000 years. According to the Ayurvedic point of view, Ashwagandha oil is specific for vata disorders associated with dry skin, muscular spasms and pain.

Arnica (Arnica Montana ) Topical use of this herb is well known to soothe sore muscles and inflammation due to sprains, bruises, and wounds. Arnica is great for swelling and for the relief of arthritis, muscle, and joint pain. Arnica has also been seen to be effective in the treatment of bursitis. Bursitis is an inflammation of the bursae, which are fluid filled sacs found between the bones and the tendons and muscles near the joints.

Juniper (Juniperus communis) Juniper belongs to a family of Cupressaceae. The oil extracted from Juniper is extensively used in Aromatherapy as it strengthens the various nerves of the body. The oil extracted from it is of great use in treating Rheumatism, Cellulite and Gout.

Nettles (Urtica dioica) are a potent herb with a long history of use. Stinging nettle has been used for hundreds of years to treat rheumatism (disorders of the muscles and joints). A German study shows that hox alpha, a extract of stinging nettle leaf, contains an anti-inflammatory substance that suppressed several cytokines in inflammatory joint diseases. Stinging nettle is rich in chlorophyll, phosphates, ormic acid, histamine, volatile and resinous acids, tannins, glucoquinine, iron, calcium, potassium, silica, vitamin C, vitamin A, and vitamin E.

Bishop weed (Carum Copticum) oil is another ingredient which is used from centuries in India both in Ayurvedic and Yunani preparation. One of the active components of bishop weed is Thymol, which is an essential component of this formula. Thymol has antiseptic and analgesic properties.

Ginger (Zingiber officinalis) The oil extracted from ginger is very precious for the well being of mankind. It is often used in traditional medicine to reduce inflammation. Research has now proved that its anti-inflammatory properties can be attributed to the presence of the substance named Zingibain. It is analgesic in nature and reduces pain caused by muscle aches, arthritis and rheumatisms.

St John Wort (Hypericum perforatum) is another component of this herbal preparation which contains hypericin with anti-inflammatory properties.
